Speakers:


Yana Terleieva is the Head of the TB Department at the Center for Public Health, Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Dr. Terleieva serves as the national TB control manager. With nearly 20 years of experience in tuberculosis response - including 15 years at the national level - her work focuses on modernizing TB strategies in line with international standards, advancing people-centered care, introducing innovations in prevention and treatment, and combating stigma.


Her talk will focus on TB control in Ukraine: challenges and innovations during wartime. A concise overview of how Ukraine’s TB program is adapting to wartime disruptions through innovative treatment approaches, patient-centered care, and strengthened international

partnerships.


Olha Konstantynovska is an Associate Professor in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Immunology at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. Dr. Konstantynovska specializes in pulmonology and tuberculosis and leads institutional TB research projects. She is dedicated to bridging scientific research and patient care while supporting healthcare professionals in challenging environments.


Her talk will focus on continuing TB research and care in a city at war. A personal perspective on sustaining clinical research, patient care, and professional collaboration amid war - highlighting resilience, international support, and the realities faced by medical specialists on the front lines of healthcare.


Chairs:


Simone Tunesi is an infectious diseases physician focused on TB clinical management. Currently working in Alessandria University Hospital, Italy, with past experiences in France, including a Sanatorium, and in a rural health service in Senegal. His research works include DR TB, TB and comorbidities and extrapulmonary TB. Teacher of Hygiene and Health Education at Nursing Diploma course in University of Turin, Italy. Simone is a member of the Steering Committee in charge of Clinical Tuberculosis area. 


Liga Kuksa is a pulmonologist. She is the Head of Multidrug Resistant TB Department, TB and Lung Disease Center, Riga East University Hospital. Her work is focused on MDR-TB management, as well as research and training in the field of TB at the national and international level. Liga Kuksa is the Chair of the TBnet since October 2021.
