Lorenzo Guglielmetti Named as One of the Time100 Leaders in Health!

The TBnet community extends our most heartfelt congratulations to Lorenzo Guglielmetti after he has been named as one of Time Magazine’s 100 most influential leaders in global health!

Lorenzo currently serves as the TBnet Steering Committee Chair for Clinical Trials and this is a timely recognition of his contribution to the global fight against tuberculosis (https://time.com/collections/time100-health-2025/7279612/lorenzo-guglielmetti/). He is co-principal investigator of the endTB clinical trials group and as part of that team has worked to demonstrate the efficacy of multiple novel regimens for the treatment of drug-resistant TB. We wish him all the best, and it is surely onwards and upwards from here!

TBnet Academy 2025: Learning, Growth and Community in Albania

Another year, another successful TBnet Academy! This year the TBnet Academy was hosted in Tirana, Albania and once again we saw faculty and attendees coming from across Europe, and even further afar. Attendees this year were from a variety of backgrounds and delivered high-quality presentations on TB diagnostics, TB treatment, and non-tuberculous mycobacteria, amongst other topics. We were also privileged to have Prof Michael Lederman of Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and University Hospitals/Cleveland Medical Center joining us, along with a surprise visit from the Minister for Health in Albania, Albana Koçiu!

We thank our hosts from University Lung Disease Department, Regional Hospital Center of Tirana, Rruga Dr Shefqet Ndroqi, the faculty and all the organisers who made this wonderful event possible as well as the support from the UNITE4TB consortium.
