Introduction of a Voluntary TBnet Membership Fee
Dear TBnet community,
In 2026 it has been 20 years since TBnet was founded. TBnet has so far operated without membership fees, based on grants and small contributions (i.e. ERS Clinical Research Collaboration, UNITE4TB, Schleswig-Holstein TB foundation). Funds are used for secretarial work, organizing meetings and the TBnet academy. The work of the steering committee and the members is entirely unpaid. However, there is a need for funding of basic activities and meetings etc. As funding is increasingly difficult to access, the steering committee - with support of the members of the network - has decided to introduce a VOLUNTARY membership fee as of 2026, with the aim to support and sustain the activities of the network. The decision to make this membership fee voluntary was based on the strong desire not to exclude any members who are unable to contribute financially.
Proposed two-tier Membership, Benefits and Contribution Options:
a) Full members (contributing members)
b) Observers (no financial contribution)
Potential Benefits:
Full members
Full members will be considered members of TBnet.
Receive information and updates on the TBnet projects
Invited to participate in the TBnet meetings
Voting rights in TBnet decisions
Possibility to run for the steering committee (SC) positions
Observers:
Receive news about TBnet
Receive invitations for specific meetings (as decided by the SC)
Access to publicly available TBnet educational activities
€25 per year (amount suggested for PhD students, trainees, residents, nurses)
€50 per year (amount suggested for specialised physicians or established researchers)
Or an optional self-selected amount
These contributions will help sustain TBnet’s activities, support scientific exchange, and enable new projects that advance TB research and care.
Any additional financial contributions, such as donations, would be very welcome.
We look forward to your participation and continued engagement in maintaining a strong, collaborative network dedicated to advancing TB science and patient care.
Further information regarding the implementation of the voluntary membership fee will be announced on the TBnet homepage and members will be informed, once the payment option is introduced (via the TBnet homepage).
