Speakers:
Erin V. McConnell is a Senior TB Project Associate at Treatment Action Group (TAG) in New York. In this role, she supports community advisory boards shaping global TB research and dissemination. She holds an MPH in health policy and global health and a BA in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
Stephan Dressler is a member of the Unite4TB Community Advisory Group (CAG) and has been a co-founder of the European AIDS Treatment Group. He collaborated with groups across Europe on HIV/TB co-infection and served on the Community Advisory Group for the EU-PEARL TB project.
Blessina Kumar is a member of the Unite4TB Community Advisory Group (CAG) and the head of the Global Coalition of TB Advocates (GCTA), which focuses mainly on high level advocacy and policy change based on ground realities and community experiences. The organisation is highly active globally and has launched a Global Youth Coalition and has National coalitions in India, Indonesia, South Africa, Kenya, Cameroon and Central and South America. Many policy changes at the global level are results of the advocacy led by GCTA and partners. Blessina is also an emeritus member of the Global TB Community Advisory Board and the founding member of the WHO Civil Society task Force.
Paul Sommerfeld is a member of the Unite4TB Community Advisory Group (CAG) and chair of the TB Europe Coalition (TBEC). Additionally, he is Executive Trustee of TB Alert, which works in the UK and India; and a member of the Task Force supporting the representatives of North civil society on the Board of the Pandemic Fund.
Chair:
Conor Tweed is a physician specializing in respiratory medicine based in London, UK. He practices hospital medicine and manages patients with tuberculosis and other mycobacterial infections in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. He is an Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor at University College London with an interest in clinical trials and methodology. Patient-centred research and Patient and Public Involvement in clinical trials has been a major focus of his academic work, and he has worked with different advocacy groups and TB survivors in this context. Within TBnet he is responsible for Advocacy.
